Originally the brain child of Information Architect and TED Conference founder Richard Saul Wurman, the project evolved into a design research partnership between RadicalMedia, and the California based GIS mapping company ERSI.
The findings of the 192021 innitiative are being used to drive interactive museum installations, web-based tools and resources, and infomation projects benefiting educators, NGOs, municipal governments and policy makers, as well as companies in categories such as public health, infrastructure, waste disposal, transportation and energy.

192021 Exhibit / Keynote Presentation
In partnership with the ECD James Spindler, I lead and directed a team in the development and design for a series of complex GIS Maps and Data Visualizations for Richard Saul Wurman's keynote speaker presentation at the 2009 ESRI User Conference — introducing the 19 20 21 initiative to the professional GIS community and press.

Included in the presentation were the research findings and custom data visualizations from a test casestudy on New York City commissioned by IBM for the SmarterCities Conference earlier that year.
For the IBM casestudy I directed a small team that examined and analyized municipal data and demographics covering a range of topics — Population Density, Education, Income, Age, Transportation Networks, Land Use, Development, Greenspaces, Crime and Emergency Response — the resulting findings I translated into a series of data visualization designs and animated charts.

ESRI User Conference
192021 Urban Observatory Installation
My original Web interface concept and design for the comparision of urban data and maps was expanded into a interactive installation for the ESRI User conference.
Under our direction, the Lab team at ESRI developed the touch interface driven by ESRI's ArcGIS software that enabled the realtime overlays of various datasets and GIS layers.
