NASA/JPL/SWRI:
Mission Juno

In the run-up to the mission launch, my team at RadicalMedia concepted, designed and developed a media-rich website and identity for the Juno mission. The goal of the site was to humanize the this unmanned mission by providing citizens of Earth a real engagement opportunity with the daunting nature of space exploration. NASA’s primary scientific goals for the mission are to better understand the origins of the Solar System by learning about its largest and most influencial planet.

The Mission website contained a wealth of information and educational tools — from multi-part documentary videos, interactive models, news feeds, and visual breakdowns of the space craft’s scientific instruments, technology, and mission progress.

Since arriving at Jupiter in 2015, NASA has released JunoCam’s images on our site first, for the public to download, process and re-post.

The ongoing engagement component of the mission website is the community resources section that allows amateur astronomers and space enthusiasts to upload their own reprocessed photographs of Jupiter, discuss related topics with NASA scientists, and vote on points-of-interest they would like to have photographed.
