The Last Ship

As a fundraiser for the Public Theater in NYC, Sting hosted a series of intimate concerts, performing work from his upcoming album and Broadway musical The Last Ship — a body of musical storytelling and character-driven songs based on his own upbringing in the shadow of the Newcastle shipyards in Wallsend.

For every song in the concert a custom animated backdrop was created and projected behind the musicians during the performance.

I created a series of water color paintings and archival photo collages as the visual foundation for the subtly evolving and morphing animations that estabished the scenic mood for each song.
